Faith Academy HS Retreat

This past weekend Faith Academy High School went on their annual retreat.  It is a retreat designed for the students to build relationships and to be challenged with the truths found in Scripture.

Kim was able to spend time with students and begin to establish closer ties with them.  She has a full load of Algebra 2 and Geometry classes this year.  She is working at getting to know her many Korean and Filipino students.  She will also be discipling junior and senior girls, perhaps working through The Pilgrim's Progress and those Scriptures it is based on.

Pray for her as she helps students understand their math, but also that she will be able to have heartfelt conversations about spiritual things from God's Word about the gospel.

The Challenge of Preaching

During this semester my men in Homiletics class are being challenged to improve their skills in exegetical study and expository sermon preparation.  They will be the next generation of preachers in the Filipino churches and much like we read in Nehemiah 8:8, there is a famine in the land...a famine for the nourishment of the Word of God.  Yet also in Nehemiah we see that they read the Scriptures and explained their meaning to end the famine.

Recently my students have been working on their own sermon text from Ephesians and they will deliver their 15 minute sermons beginning the week of September 12th.

As part of their preparation they are watching and evaluating master expository preachers such as Dr. Al Mohler of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Dr. John MacArthur of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA.

Sometimes it is beneficial to watch and listen to men like this in order to help challenge us to new levels of confidence.  Pray for these young men as they prepare for their high call and high privilege in ministry

Partners in a Generational Legacy

A premier verse related to passing on the baton of ministry to the next generation is 2 Timothy 2:2, "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

When you join us in prayer ministry and regular financial partnership, you are investing in a movement of equipping a new generation for Christ and thereby partnering in a legacy for future ministry in the Philippines and beyond.

The seminarians Robert equips at BBSI are training for their calling to serve with excellence. The missionary kids Kim works with at Faith Academy need an education and to be challenged with the truth of the gospel, even while their parents serve in ministries all over the Philippines.

These funds have covered and will cover ministry expenses, flights, upcoming visa renewal costs, outfitting our new home and a used car for ministry.  To help us raise the remaining amounts for our O&P funds, you can click on the button to go to our secure online personal account page at ABWE. Click on the Equip logo and you will be directed to our website to know more about the vital ministries we are involved with in Manila and beyond.  It's been said that the Philippine Islands are the "gateway to Asia". Well, in regards to the gospel being taken to Asia that could very well be true as many young Filipino men and women are preparing for ministry even as missionaries in other Asian countries.  They need our prayers!  We need to help prepare them.
