Equipping Men to be Preachers of God's Truth

Last Thursday saw us administering finals for the first semester 2017 last Thursday for all of my classes. In the morning, the last 7 of my Homiletics students preached their 10 minute sermons.

I was encouraged by these young men and their efforts to overcome their shyness and nervousness. All had strong biblical content, yet need practice in their delivery. This will come in time and I am confident they will excel in their calling to become preachers.

Pictured below with me (L to R): Frank Baiya, Julius Mayo, Nover Penchog, Francisco Banaag and Reydan Derecho. Not pictured with us are the first two preachers of the morning, Emerson Colon and Jerome Romano who had to leave early to take another final.

Please continue to pray for these young and future preachers. Thanks for praying!

Biblical Hermeneutics Class Final Last Thursday

Almost 70 students gathered for their semester final. These students are some of those in the Philippines who will be the Bible teachers and preachers in the future. Please continue to pray for them to work hard at studying and interpreting God’s Word. Pray according to 2 Timothy 2:15 that they will be unashamed and approved workmen who rightly handle the Word of God. Thanks for praying.

Pray for the People of Santa Rosa and Napa Valley, CA

Please continue to pray for the people of the Santa Rosa and Napa Valley area of CA.  Many were killed and many thousands are now homeless. I've been told that whole neighborhoods are burned to ashes.  Kim's uncle and his family live in Santa Rosa and have been evacuated as of Saturday.  Up until then it seemed like the fires would not reach them.  They are with other family or in shelters now and unsure if they will return to their home or a burned down house.  We know others who are effected or live nearby.  Our daughter''s family lives across the east bay and in Fairfield. The air quality is horrendous for them  and beyond. That wine country might be completely devastated.

And Now for Something Completely Different!

Upon returning to work from home after dropping Kim off at Faith Academy I was surprised to find this young bird hanging out on our gate. He wasn’t afraid of the dog that sniffed and barked in his face. He wasn’t afraid of me standing less that a foot from him. He wasn’t even afraid when I stroked his tail feathers. We stood there like this for about 3 minutes before he decided he’d had enough and flew off. Well, it is a jungle out there :) and it is their domain after all. We deal with termites, ants, spiders and geckos constantly, but this was a nice surprise for me.  I'm not sure what type of bird it is, but trying to find out.

Partners in a Generational Legacy

A premier verse related to passing on the baton of ministry to the next generation is 2 Timothy 2:2, "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

When you join us in prayer ministry and regular financial partnership, you are investing in a movement of equipping a new generation for Christ and thereby partnering in a legacy for future ministry in the Philippines and beyond.

The seminarians Robert equips at BBSI are training for their calling to serve with excellence. The missionary kids Kim works with at Faith Academy need an education and to be challenged with the truth of the gospel, even while their parents serve in ministries all over the Philippines.

To invest in this work, simply click the button to go to ABWE's secure online donation page.  There you can arrange automatic monthly support.  All support donations are tax-deductible.

Click on the Equip logo and you will be directed to our website to know more about the vital ministries we are involved with in Manila and beyond.  It's been said that the Philippine Islands are the "gateway to Asia". Well, in regards to the gospel being taken to Asia that could very well be true as many young Filipino men and women are preparing for ministry even as missionaries in other Asian countries.  They need our prayers!  We need to help prepare them.
